JAMIE TRENCH: DIGGING IN
DJ, producer and enterprising label boss Jamie Trench has seen his vigorous blend of disco, house and deep underground jams — or how he would describe it, “Grooves to move ya” — rise to acclaim over a short, successful period of time. DVBBS BE GOOD TO ME
Now that the initial Stateside EDM explosion has had some time to settle, its lasting impact on the music-loving youth of the day is finally being felt. Where David Guetta, Deadmau5 and Skrillex first ushered in the maximalist movement, a second wave of younger, hungrier talents are now taking over. Right at the heart of this secondary evolution are acts like Canadian dance duo DVBBS (pronounced “dubs”), aka brothers Chris and Alex Andre, who are 25 and 24 respectively.

It's already dark outside where we've decamped, following this month's cover shoot, to talk about the incredible rise of Ten Walls and the launch of his own label, BOSO.

MUMDANCE & LOGOS: SMASHING THE PROTOCOL
'Sankofa' is both a word and symbol native to the Akan language of southern Ghana that stands for the notion that it is OK, in fact imperative, to keep looking back at the past as we move forward. After speaking to London-based producers Mumdance and Logos, and understanding how they approach sound and songwriting, DJ Mag is reminded of this term since it applies in many way to their modus operandi.
