Benji Espinoza, the co-founder of influential Chicago house label DJ International Records, has died, according to a report in 5Mag.

Founded in 1985 with Rocky Jones, DJ International Records put out many important early house records, including the first house music compilation and, later, international house music anthem ‘Promised Land’ by Joe Smooth. 

Theo Parrish will release his new album, ‘Wuddaji’, next week.

Set for release on his own Sound Signature label in 18th September, the nine-track LP was teased last year with the track ‘This Is For You’, featuring vocalist Maurissa Rose. You can hear clips from the album below. 

It will be Parrish’s first studio album since 2014’s ‘American Intelligence’ and his seventh full-length album to date. His LP debut, ‘First Floor’, was released in 1998. 

Inner City have released their first new album in 30 years.

The Detroit trio, made up of Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez Saunderson and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an, today revealed their new 12-track LP, 'We All Move Together'.

Recorded over 18 months of studio sessions between touring, a press release states that the album's title "means more now than ever" and that "‘We All Move Together’ represents the uplifting love and connection that music brings to Kevin Saunderson’s life, the Inner City group, and the rest of the world."

Trax Records hit with lawsuit for $1 million in 'unpaid' royalties to artists.

House innovators Larry Heard (AKA Mr Fingers), and Robert Owens, have filed a $1 million against Trax Records for federal copyright infringement, stating that they were exploted and coerced into signing away rights to their music as young musicians.

A fundraiser has been started for pioneering Chicago house producer, Adonis, who revealed he had not received "a penny" in royalties from renowned house label, Trax Records.

Writing in a post on Facebook earlier this year, Adonis urged fans not to buy or support Trax Records. "This label has not paid me one penny in 34 years. Trax Records do not own any rights to my music. Please share this post everywhere," he said. "Also tell all distributors to do not sell this record or any other of my songs from this horrible label. Enough is enough."
