Blue Monday is one of the most iconic songs of all times. Bridging the disco era with what became a house and techno explosion in the UK, New Order created a timeless classic that's still referenced today as one of the most influential tracks of all time by artists and listeners alike. Last month New Order headlined SONAR festival in Barcelona and when Point Blank were asked to take part in SONAR+D – the educational arm of the famous festival – it was a no-brainer for Lead Course Developer Ski Oakenfull to take on the classic track in one of their world-famous deconstructions.

Reasons Festival returns for its second year on Saturday 30th July with a huge line-up and a location that is to die for, Jersey’s stunningly picturesque Coronation Park.

This year’s festival features a stellar line-up, and DJ Mag will be on hand to capture the madness with live stream performances by Slam, Dense & Pika and Jagerverb with more to be announced. 

Elsewhere, the mainstage will play host to the likes of Goldie & MC Codebreaker, Special Request, Soul II Soul (Live) and many more.

This week’s DJ Mag weekly podcast is a special one as legendary selector Kai Alcé delivers an hour-long mix billed as a 'Defected Croatia' special.

The DJ and producer, and head honcho of NDATL Records, is one of the mixers of the latest Defected In The House Croatia album (which is out next Friday), and will be appearing at the inaugural Defected Croatia festival taking place next month at the Garden Resort, Tisno.

Riva Starr returns to his acclaimed Snatch! Records imprint with his brand-new EP, ‘Naples Play Bass’, and we’ve got the exclusive first play of the b-side ‘Nite Like This’.

‘Nite Like This’ is an energetic cut of bumping house that features a never-before-heard vocal from the late, great Daft Punk collaborator Romanthony, which was recorded back in the late 2000s.

“Naples is my native city and it’s been an enormous influence on my music over the years and still is,” explains Riva Starr to DJ Mag.

Where did your love of music first come from?
"My love of music first came from my interest in percussion instruments. I began to play drums so I could perform rock music."
