A new grime and hip-hop conference is set to take place in Glasgow this summer.

Set to launch in July, the inaugural edition of HANG — Scotland's first conference dedicated to grime and hip-hop — will take place at Glasgow venue SWG3, with an aim to "inspire and empower members of Scotland's hip hop and grime communities".

Scottish music venues and festivals will return next month.

As coronavirus lockdown restrictions begin to ease in Europe and beyond, it has been announced that music venues and festivals in Scotland will be able to resume from the 17th May.

From next month, music venues will be able to host crowds of up to 100 people with social distancing measures in place. Festivals will adhere to the same social distancing rules, but will be allowed to host crowds of up to 500.

Playground Festival have announced the first wave of acts performing at next year's event.

The festival, which is scheduled to take place in Glasgow's southside from Friday 30th July to Sunday 1st August next year, hosted their first event in 2019. Welcoming the likes of Groove Armada, Maribou State and Hot Chip to Rouken Glen Park, Playground have now revealed the headliners performing across the weekend in 2021.

Terminal V has locked Charlotte de Witte, Richie Hawtin, Honey Dijon and more for next year's festival.

After cancelling the 2020 festival due to coronavirus, and instead turning to new virtual platform CONNECT, Terminal V has announced its return to the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh, in 2021. Set to take place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th April, it's the first time the festival will take place over two days.

The Scottish government has announced a £2.2 million package to support small venues amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Friday 11th July during the First Minister's briefing, economy secretary Fiona Hyslop announced that a £2.2 million fund had been established to support grassroots music venues in Scotland. The amount was agreed with the Music Venues Trust, who have been campaigning for the government to support UK venues since the beginning of lockdown. 

In the midst of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Scottish Government has announced a £320 million rescue package for small businesses, including small clubs, venues and record stores. 

The Art School, one of Glasgow's leading venues for electronic music, has gone into liquidation. 

32 staff, who have been on zero hours contracts since November, have lost their jobs with immediate effect. 

The venue has been suffering from financial issues for months; back in November the club was forced to suspend its programming, and a month prior, staff had protested as they became aware their jobs were under threat. 

Today an order was granted by Glasgow Sherriff Court to appoint Shona Campbell of MHA Henderson Loggie as the company's liquidator. 

Willy will release a new EP later this month.

Willy, real name Lewis Williamson, is a 19 year old Glasgow-based producer. The upstart is fast gaining recognition for his slick productions, and this Friday will release a five-track EP on Sub Club resident Liam Doc's Eyeangle Records.

Terminal V has revealed the names completing this year's festival line-up.

Following the Terminal V Easter party with the likes of Helena Hauff, Chris Leibing and Nastia in April this year, the festival returns to the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh on Saturday 26th October for ‘The Reckoning’.
