India Jordan announces new EP on Local Action ‘WARPER/Bulbasaur Shuffle’
India Jordan will release a new EP through Local Action later this month.
Made up of two tracks, titled 'WARPER' and 'Bulbasaur Shuffle', the EP is Jordan's first for the label since the release of her DNT STP MY LV EP earlier this year.
A press text from Local Action says that the tracks have been "reloaded everywhere from Boiler Room to Barcelona," adding that they've been "highlights of India's DJ sets throughout 2019".
Murlo’s debut LP, ‘Dolos’, to be musically and visually reimagined in new Flashbacks project
Murlo has launched a new project; inviting a selection of his favourite artists to reinterpret parts of 'Dolos', his debut album.
Once each artist has reenvisaged a chapter or track from 'Dolos', Murlo will then design new cover art to reflect the energy of the reimagined piece of music. In another bold move, Murlo brings audio and visual art together, with a project that goes beyond the usual post-album remix package.
Recognise: Anz
After a few stop-start attempts on a Native Instruments Maschine Mikro, it was on a sick day from work that Anz made the first track on her Soundcloud page “for my 13 followers” – no days off, remember. “It was like an R&G thing with some harmonies,” she remembers. “I left it on there for two or three years! I still really, to my memory, like it! I could even sample it.”
The Sound Of: Local Action
But Lea has stepped up, and is now providing a solid, independent alternative himself.
This artist-led approach has encouraged each member of the Local Action family to develop a distinct identity, while Lea is obviously willing to take more of what some might call risks. Case in point: Local Action has put out 16 long-players in just nine years. “They seem like a big deal until you do one,” says Lea. He muses on recurring problem of dance music albums often ending up “disappointing” or “completely overblown”.
The end result is an imprint that can support both huge pop acts and remain one of the most exciting outlets in underground club culture, putting on tiny sweaty events in Deptford while hitting hundreds of thousands of Spotify plays. While most labels aim to build a recognisable brand, Lea says, “I get more these days out of actually providing a proper, professional, financially-viable infrastructure that an artist can grow within and see the benefits of...

Mumdance, Object Blue, Yamaneko, more contribute to Local Action Ambient Resistance playlist: Listen
Mumdance, Yamaneko, object blue and more have helped label Local Action compile an Ambient Resistance playlist to kindly brighten up our January blues.
A combination of label artists and friends have put together over 15 hours of music covering everything from ambient to modern classical including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Max Richter, and Yamaneko, the only rule seemingly being the track must be impeccably chill.
Premiere: Sim Hutchins ‘Like Herding Cats’
Following April’s gritty, reflective and absorbing ‘Clubeighteen2thirty’, UK audiovisual artist Sim Hutchins has announced a new EP, ‘C18230.5’, returning once again to release on the mighty Local Action.
Premiere: Yamaneko ‘Hydrokinesis’
Yamaneko has been one of the most prominent ambient and experimental producers in the UK in recent years. Since releasing his debut LP, ‘Pixel Wave Embrace’, on Local Action in 2014, the artist has developed somewhat of a cult fan base thanks to his enchanting approach to beatless soundscapes, new age forms and melodic subtlety.

Local Action to release debut EP from India Jordan
Local Action will release India Jordan's debut EP 'DNT STP MY LV' next month.
Jordan, co-founder of the New Atlantis label and bi-monthly event at London's Rye Wax venue, has been until now synonymous with ambient, but has drawn from their alternative interests in house, jungle and hardcore to produce some "full-throttle dance" across the release's four original tracks. The EP also features a typically riotous remix from Irish producer and recent DJ Mag Fresh Kicks mix selector ELLLL.
