A biography exploring the life and career of J Dilla is set to be published.

DJ Bone is the next artist to feature in our DJ Mag Originals series, Crate Diggin’.

In the series, in which we take some of the world’s biggest DJs record shopping, we take a deep dive into the artist’s individual music tastes, through both contemporary and historical releases.

In the latest episode of Crate Diggin’, Detroit techno mainstay DJ Bone goes record shopping at SeaWolf Records in Amsterdam: a second-hand vinyl store, hidden on the outskirts of central Amsterdam, stocked mainly from private collections. 

Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta staged a fashion show at the Michigan Building Theater in Detroit last week, featuring a soundtrack specially provided by Moodymann.

The designer's creative director Daniel Lee has long held a fascination with cars and techno and later fell in love with Detroit after a layover in the city. It was that experience that resulted in Bottega Veneta's Salon O3 show taking place at the Michigan Building Theater, which was designed to look like a carpark for the event.

Kelli Hand, also known as K-Hand — one of the most important pioneers of Detroit techno — has died. Her passing was confirmed by friends on social media accounts on the evening of August 3rd. The cause of her death is not yet known.

Her work as both an artist and label boss over the years led her to be dubbed The First Lady Of Detroit Techno, and in July 2017 she was awarded a Testimonial Resolution certificate by Detroit city council, listing her “many accomplishments in the male-dominated industry of electronic music”.

Detroit’s DJ Minx has shared a new track, ‘Purse First’, in celebration of Pride Month. 

The legendary house and techno DJ and Women on Wax founder publicly came out about her own sexuality at the start of this month in an Instagram post, and is now finishing June by unveiling a brand new tune, which you can hear below. All revenue generated from sales will go to Detroit's Ruth Ellis Center, which delivers support and trauma-informed services for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults of colour. 

DJ Stingray 313 is relaunching his Micron Audio label, with a new EP from the boss arriving 24th September, 'Molecular Level Solutions'. The first track from the new release has already dropped in the form of 'Carbon Neutral Fuels', which you can hear below.
