Forest fire leads to Fresh Island Festival evacuation in Croatia
The fire broke out on Tuesday morning
Croatia's Fresh Island festival has been evacuated following a fire.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning (16th) Fresh Island festival was evacuated after a fire broke out behind Zrce beach, where the festival was taking place, on the island of Pag.
The main road to Novalja was closed temporarily and re-opened after a few hours to allow the police to escort buses back to resorts.
In a statement on Twitter, Fresh Island shared: “There was a forest fire near to Zrce Beach last night. After being advised by the police and emergency services to evacuate due to heavy winds, we guided festival goers to the parking area near Noa Club which was a safe distance from the fire.”
The festival, which began on Monday (15th), was due to run until Thursday (17th), with Tyga, Not3s, Stefflon Don and Hardy Caprio all slated to perform.
Last month, Berlin's Club der Visionaere was damaged in a fire.
In 2017, 22,000 people were evacuted from Tomorrowland UNITE in Barcelona following a fire.
