Following the release of his debut EP, ‘The Skin Falls Off The Body’ in 2018 on Dream Catalogue, Cork experimental club producer Lighght will release his debut album this month.
Boasting the best title we’ve seen all year, ‘Gore-Tex In The Club, Balenciaga Amongst The Shrubs’, the nine track collection will be released via Lighght’s own Shadow Gazing imprint on 16th August. As well as digitally, the album will be available on a limited edition cassette with artwork by Sam Lubicz.
Covering a wide array of styles from hard drum, club music and trance to ambience and Irish traditional music, the album is described by the artist as being “a strange work about exploring self-indulgence as a model for self-healing, coming to terms with the arbitrary nature of pain and beginning the healing process whilst in an already vulnerable state: one of panicked ecstasy, where you keep cruising upward as you feel the safety of solid grounding evaporate beneath your feet.”
Following the sharing of first single, ‘Passion Peace’, a momentous and euphoric trance tear-jerker, a second track, ‘Dark Rush’, is now available to hear ahead of the album’s release. A much more percussive, dancefloor-focussed affair, ‘Dark Rush’ is a heaving techno cut with melancholic melodic chimes weaving in and out of focus. Check it out below.
