Premiere: Bolam ‘Honeycomb Kiss’
London’s Control Freak Recordings with a new compilation of future-facing UK techno, breaks and electro, ‘Psycho/Soma’. Hear Bolam’s ‘Honeycomb Kiss’ now

London’s Control Freak Recordings will release a new compilation this week.
Landing tomorrow, the 12-track comp, ‘Psycho/Soma’, is the label’s second compilation, and features a selection of future-facing UK techno, electro, breaks and percussive club music from emerging acts such as Kincaid, Ayesha, Pluralist and Debba.
‘Psycho/Soma’ follows Control Freak’s 2020 comp ‘Remote Access’, which was released at the start of the pandemic and has, to date, raised over £1000 for the Trussell Trust. A portion of the proceeds from ‘Psycho/Soma’ will go toward three mental health charities in the UK: Mind, YoungMinds & Black Minds Matter.
Below, you can hear ‘Honeycomb Kiss’, a blissed-out breaks cut from Shetland-born, Edinburgh-based producer Bolam. With a haywire bass buzz, nostalgic synths and robotic vocal chops, it’s a retrofuturist rave banger, and sets the pace for the rest of the compilation.
‘Psycho/Soma’ is out on Friday, 2nd April. You can buy it here.
