Joris Voorn won the electro/progressive Money Shot in January with his remix of Audion’s ‘Dem Howl’, and here he achieves similar death-defying results with a rework that again shows his willingness to dither in the more melodic and emotive side of club music. Admittedly, he’s given a superb template to work with by Royksopp; all the melodic elements are intact, as well as the vocal that’s swimming with beautiful melancholy and regret. Voorn strips the bombast back a little, which actually has the effect of making ‘I Had This Thing’ even more powerful.
