Label boss Paul ‘Mudd’ Murphy and Ben Smith follow up on the excellent ‘Gorthleck’ album from back in 2016. ‘Janet 50’ dives into familiar territory, namely a musical theme to accompany the warm shores of the White Isle or the rolling dunes of Punta del Este — exploring the space between dub, cosmic, psychedelia and new wave. On the flipside, Versatile Records regular I:Cube works a cracking remix, using the original elements to generate a subtle floor-friendly pulse.
