PREMIERE: TERRY HOOLIGAN MIX OF ‘PUSH PLAY’
Atomic Hooligan man mixes cuts from Sonia SOTO bass benefit comp
The ‘Push Play’ benefit compilation in aid of the Afro-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) is just about to be released – and to mark the fact, Terry Hooligan has mixed up some highlights of the bass-bursting compilation, exclusively for DJ Mag.
The comp has been put together to mark the sad passing of Sonia Akow, a DJ/producer and music publicist who was also A&R for Botchit & Scarper — the parent label for this release.
Sonia was a brilliant personality and a particular favourite of DJ Magazine, and helped scores of bass music producers further their careers over the years.
A load of top names from the world of beats and bass have donated a track to support the leukaemia charity that benefits from sales of this comp. Ragga Twins, Aquasky, T-Power, the Freestylers, Deekline, Atomic Hooligan, Pyramid & Jay Cunning, Ben & Lex, the Moody Boyz, Rennie Pilgrem and Lawgiverz are just some of the acts involved.
The ‘Push Play’ album is named after Sonia’s PR company — Push Promotions. Push Play was also the name of a couple of benefit gigs for Sonia in London that DJ Mag was involved with.

Profits from sales of the comp go to the Afro-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust. The Trust is always looking for bone marrow donors and people to donate blood.
